Talent Advisors – Project Management Part Time Employee
Location: Remote
Professional Executive
Job Description:
Position Reports To: Head of Delivery
Kinetic Potential (KP) is a mission driven for profit organization, based in the Washington, DC area, that has a tremendous opportunity to expand its occupational skills training and community service offerings throughout the United States. The firm is preparing for significant growth and seeking Talent Advisors to instruct, coach, mentor and develop individuals for careers in Project Management with KP or one of our KP Network Partners.
Background & Program Description:
KP believes that success in a project management role comes from being able to apply the project management training and learned skills to real-life projects and programs. Training alone is insufficient to truly prepare participants for employment, especially in project management roles. At KP, we take a different approach from other training programs. To adequately prepare participants to take on the role and responsibilities of a project manager, we offer a three-part program:
- Training Certification - Asynchronous or Live PMBOK Training and exam preparation
- Experiential Learning – Application of acquired knowledge to a mini-project within KP
- Career Management – Review of career opportunities within KP or a KP Network Partner
Our program is intended to not only prepare the participants for a project management role, but to actually evaluate their potential for a part-time or full-time role as an employee with KP or one of our KP Network partners. Throughout their progress in the program, we will evaluate their aptitude, attitude and “fit” and the Talent Advisor will play a key role in this evaluation process.
Responsibilities:
The Talent Advisor is a part-time employee role that is engaged with each new cohort of students much like an adjunct professor. The Talent Advisor schedules will be established based upon the class with some flexibility for office hours and meeting times with students. We anticipate Talent Advisors spending approximately 40 -60 hours per student cohort. Depending on program demand, multiple cohorts may be active at any given time.
- Onboard all new student cohorts through the Training Certification program
- Provide supporting instruction and real-world guidance with examples that align with KP’s existing project activities
- Support the students during exam preparation by offering regular office hours
- Respond to students’ questions via email Q&A
- Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning
- Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations
- Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments
- Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise in project management and help students connect concepts across their training program
- Show initiative by identifying innovative methods to help unemployed adults successfully complete the training and experiential learning components of the program
- Help the students understand that their performance in this training program will be evaluated as part of the decision-making process for potential employment with KP and/or KP Network Partners
- Serve as a member of the KP project team, providing project management support and assistance to achieve the objectives of the mini-projects
- Provide feedback to the KP Sponsor on possible curricular improvements and candidate evaluations
Requirements:
- 10+ years of relevant project management experience, 5+ years in a supervisory capacity

- Excellent communication, organization, time-management and leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal skills for mentoring students and staff candidates
